Calling all parents in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill region: I’ve created a website called Triangle TRACKS, located at www.triangletracks.com, just for you. TRACKS is an acronym for “Tools, Resources and Activities for Carolina Kids.”

My reason for creating this site was simple: as a local mom of three and a former magazine editor, I’ve come across so many great resources for kids in the Triangle that I decided to put them all on ONE portal website for Triangle families to use. I created the site on my own time for a very low expense, mainly because I realized no website like this existed in our area. From education to birthday party resources; camps to youth sports leagues; museum exhibits to theater productions; and playgrounds to hiking trails, the categories are endless.

When you visit, you can subscribe to my free monthly newsletter, check out the Triangle TRACKS blog and join the TRACKS social network to exchange news and information about children’s resources with other local parents. I hope this website helps you plan activities for your children. Let me know what you think of it at epshugg@triangletracks.com.

Raleigh, North Carolina has a hospital. Raleigh has many medical professionals operating in a variety of specialties. Fundamental healthcare begins with an individual or family?s access to a general physician, call it a family doctor or for children, a Pediatrician and for women a Gynecologist. Certainly, for people like me, a good therapist; better yet, a Psychiatrist! But why is it that someone in Raleigh, North Carolina cannot locate a physician that will take new patients?
CityBlog Raleigh, was struck by the frustration that was apparent in Susie Pena’s (a Raleigh, North Carolina resident) post on May 9, 2007, which read as follows:
I have been here 1 year this June and have yet to find a doctor that will accept new patients. I am very discouraged that there is no avenue for new residents to find out who is available without a lot of labor intensive efforts.
Does Raleigh have a physician association or, does the hospital know of new physicians coming into Raleigh that are looking for new patients? It would behoove all communities to have some centralized service that maintains a list of physicians who can accept patients as either “new” or on a rotating basis until the new resident can establish regular healthcare.
